2025 Midfield King of The Dunes held on Saturday 22 February, at Discovery Bay Coastal Park (Swan Lake).
- Round 1 of the Southern States Off Road Club Challenge
Hosted by the Portland Dune Buggy Club Inc. The event is authorised by AASA Permit No: AASA210225-101633
The event will be held at the Discovery Bay Coastal Park approx. 40kms west of Portland. Turn into Post Office Road off the Portland-Nelson Rd and continue on to the Swan Lake / Portland Dune Buggy Club campground.

ENTRIES ARE CLOSED
We have received an overwhelming number of entries and have now reached our cap of 40 entrants for this year’s race.
If you are interested in being on the waitlist, please email your details and interest to info@portlanddunebuggyclub.com.au.
Friday night 21st February 2025:
- Documentation 5pm
- Reconnaissance 6pm in road registered 4WD vehicle only (1 x reconnaissance vehicle per competitor)
- Scrutineering 7pm – 9pm
Saturday 22nd February 2025:
- Recon & scrutiny Saturday morning by appointment
- Recovery & Media briefing 9am
- Competing Crew Briefing 9.45am
- Race 1 Start (8 laps) 11am
- Race 2 Start (8 laps) 2.30pm
- Total race distance approx. 200kms
- Start order is mass start!
- Presentations at the completion of Race 2
Flag poles are available for hire at a cost of $75, through the online entry system. This amount will be fully refunded after the event when the flag pole is returned intact.
NATIONAL PARK RULES APPLY:
Under no circumstances are dogs, cats or firearms permitted at Swan Lake Discovery Bay Coastal Park. Owners will be asked to remove them or leave the park.
No drones.
SPECTATOR INFO:
Spectators are welcome to view the race from the spectator area on the dunes. You will need a 4WD and let tyres down to 12-15psi before being allowed on to the sand.
Spectator vehicles do not require a sand flag. Spectators may only drive directly to and from the spectator area at our given times. We recommend spectators arrive into the campground no later than 10am in order to grab a coffee, let their tyres down and head up to the spectator area.
CAMPING & CATERING:
Camping is available in the Portland Dune Buggy Club campground free of charge for competing teams and spectators.
Limited catering will be available; coffee van Saturday and a BBQ lunch Saturday via the Portland Rotary Club.
Facilities are limited however there are flushing toilets and further portaloos will be provided. There are bore water taps dotted around the campground.
There will be one shower trailer. Use designated fire rings only, BYO firewood. Fully extinguish fires before departing.
