Kraaj Leads QLD into Mount Larcom Finale

One of the most intriguing showdowns on the calendar awaits this weekend, with the running of the 2024 Farm and Garden Products Mount Larcom Short Course, proudly hosted by the Gympie Auto Sports Club.

Thirty-five crews await the ninth and final round of the 2024 Mickey Thompson ARB Off Road Racing Championship on Saturday, with current championship leader Jan Kraaj #1140 needing just one more solid performance to claim the state’s highest honour.

Class 1 stalwart David Loughnan #104, and Burdekin podium sitter Drew Callander #99 in his V8 powered Razorback are both poised for a shot at the Queensland title but will need things to fall their way at the final round, with just a point separating the pair.

In the battle for Mount Larcom silverware, Stuart Chapman #17 in the team’s single seat Chenowth, last year’s Mount Larcom runner up Richard Tassin #691 and 2024 Dalby victor Christian Trusz #816 are all expected to challenge.

Drew Callander #99, son Trent #127 in the team’s Class 1 Southern Cross, Class 10 spearhead Russell Harnett #1012, Class 4 charger Tyler Youman #427, plus Class 6 front runners Darren Barker #611, and Kane Prechelt #694 are others to watch for outright honours.

In the class previews, Kel Kruger #44, Paul Youman #427a, Darren Angel #160 who narrowly trails Loughnan #104 in the Class 1 championship, Mark Andrew #295a, Colin Gaven #295 and Paul Vann #287 are other notable crews set for Mount Larcom action.

Tony Butler #520, Ladies Championship leader Leila Chapman #616s, John Butler #708, Class 66 veteran Ross Newman #6681, Jason Keane #1013, Brett Glazebrook #668, Jason Sait #674, and Jim Zlotkowski #1154 are other key contenders.

Offroad newcomer and current Future Champions leader Cameron Krog #6623 is one of four competitors set for Mount Larcom, with current runner up Dexter Warren #6645, Lincoln Wilcox #717 and Jack Musico #6688 primed for the final round of 2024.

With camping and catering available at the Mount Larcom event, and racing scheduled to commence from 8.00am both mornings; it is set to be a sensational final round of the 2024 Queensland Off Road Racing Championship.

The 2024 Mount Larcom Short Course would not be possible without the support of the naming right sponsor Farm and Garden Products, plus the other amazing sponsors Upton Engineering, Multi Trade and McCosker Contracting who assisted in so many ways.

The AORRA QLD Off Road Racing Championship would like to thank their major sponsors ARB & Mickey Thompson Tyres, and other championship sponsors including, Premium Soil Conditioners & Fertilisers, Lucas Papaw Remedies, Comiskey Mining Services, Link Engine Management, Farm & Garden Polaris, North Lakes Best Western Hotel & JSW Powersports for their commitment in 2024.

The 2024 Farm and Garden Mount Larcom Short Course takes place this weekend at 980 Popenia Road, Darts Creek, QLD.
