Following on from the hugely successful Don River Dash last month, the 2023 Mickey Thompson ARB Queensland Off Road Racing Championship has turned its attention to this weekend’s season finale, the McCosker Mt. Larcom Short Course, held at Darts Creek, north of Mt. Larcom in the Gladstone region.

Proudly hosted by the Gympie Auto Sports Club, the third edition of the Mt. Larcom event will be spearheaded by DRELLs Run Racing’s Darren 689s and Luke Brandon 690s. Remarkably, the ever reliable father and son duo who sit first and second respectively in the outright championship are separated by just 11 points; both in a prime position to become Queensland’s newest offroad champion.

Joining the Brandon’s as championship contenders this weekend include 2023 Federal champion and current Class 6 front runner Zac Marsh #614, and Class 1 champion elect David Loughnan #104; with the two of them still a mathematical chance of securing the QLD crown if results go their ways.

Recent Dalby 100 victor Richard Tassin #691, young gun Josh Weidman #6105, 2023 Moranbah SC runner up Tony Patterson #6175s in his Polaris Pro R and Class 10 hard charger Steven Orr #1051 are other serious Mt. Larcom challengers.

Close class battles are again expected at Mt. Larcom, with QLD stalwart John Moore #82, Brett Baker #124, Class 2 championship leader Colin Gaven #295, runaway Class 5 pacesetter Tyler Youman #527, QLD ladies champion elect Kate Swinglehurst #631, Dalby runner up Tyson Howard #6168, Ross Newman #6681, Rob Chapman #871, Class 10 titlist in the waiting Rob Stieber #1082, plus future champions Toby Musico #6688, Hollie Gardiner #6689 and Lincoln Wilcox #717 all notables set for action at Queensland’s final event of 2023.

The 2023 McCosker Mt. Larcom Short Course would not be possible without the support of the naming right sponsor McCosker Contracting, major event sponsor Farm and Garden Products, plus all the other amazing sponsors Upton Engineering and Manufacturing, Thomas Plant Hire, and Multitrade Building Hire who have assisted in so many ways.

The Queensland Off Road Racing Championship would like to thank their major naming right sponsors ARB and Mickey Thompson Tyres for their strong partnership in 2023, whilst expressing full gratitude towards the remaining championship sponsors, including Dynamic Wheel Co, Lucas Papaw Remedies, Premium Soil Conditioners and Fertilisers, Comiskey Mining Services, North Lakes Best Western, plus Polaris Farm & Garden Produce.

The 2023 McCosker Mt. Larcom Short Course takes place in Darts Creek this weekend, the 21st- 22nd of October.
