Toby Musico Making Memories

Toby Musico Making Memories

Since the launch of the Future Champions Class by the Queensland AORRA committee and AASA four years ago, Toby Musico #6688 has certainly made his mark.

Now in his fourth season competing, the thirteen year old Gold Coaster is geared up for this weekends PDS Dalby Short Course, the location where it all started for Musico back in 2021.

“The family are looking forward to heading back to Dalby, our plan again is to be the fastest and most consistent on track while keeping the car in one piece, which can be a challenge,” said Toby.

During his young career which commenced in karting at six, before venturing into khanacross, and offroad, Musico has always had eyes firmly on a career in rally; with a dream of making it to the WRC.

“Whilst my main goal is making it to the WRC, each discipline has improved my skills. The aspect I love most about offroad is the capability of the cars and how they can go over jumps at speed without breaking anything.

“I also love how much it has taught me in terms of car control and how to use the weight to get it turned which carries through into all motorsport.

Musico and his father Ben are currently planning another trip to Finland in the coming months for rally training and an event, before he turns fourteen and is legal to compete in Rally Sprints across Australia.

“I would like to personally thank Gold Coast-Tweed Motorsport club for their incredible support towards my journey, also Kristian Sohlberg and Marko Salminen for the amazing coaching in Finland, and to all the people who helped with my trip to Europe last December, and raised money for me to travel, it’s been amazing.

With a hunger to succeed, the two time Queensland Off Road Future Champion, and Australian Junior Khanacross Champion will be looking to add to his list of victories this weekend, before passing the family’s Polaris onto his ten year old brother Jack at Moranbah next month.

“My brother has also been around karting since a young age, the best advice I can give to Jack is to keep working towards the next goal and never give up on your dream. I definitely think he has the competitive edge and will learn quickly in the Polaris.

Musico Family Racing would not be possible without the boys amazing parents, Ben and Andrea, plus all those who have assisted in Toby and Jacks racing endeavours so far. Including their major sponsor Wade Moran from CityFleet who has been supportive in every department, plus the teams other generous partners Car Mods Australia, Skid Control, and Supercheap Auto Oxenford.

The 2024 PDS Dalby Short Course takes place this weekend at 51 Redland Court, Weranga, Queensland.
