AORRA Rule Change Affiliated Club Voting Form - Class Engine Capacity

Referencing AASA Vehicle Requirements for Off Road Racing Events V3.0- February 2023

Recently, an application for a rule change was submitted, focusing on several key aspects of our Off Road Competition Technical; Class Structure.
Specifically, this proposal affects:

  • Rule number 2.2 (b) Off Road Competition Technical & Class Structure
  • Rule number 2.5 2WD Production Groups: Wild 2WD and Power 2WD
  • Rule number 2.6 4WD Production Groups: Super 4WD

Please note, Ultimate is the new class name for Unlimited, effective from January 2023.

Currently, the regulations stipulate that vehicles in the ULTIMATE CLASS, CLASS 4, CLASS 5, and CLASS 8 must have an engine capacity (including any turbo/supercharging, rotary, and/or diesel correction factors) not exceeding 6000cc.

The rule change application is proposing the following changes:

  • ULTIMATE vehicles with one or two crew members, with a naturally aspirated (NA) engine capacity not exceeding 7000cc +1%.  Each petrol engine equipped with forced induction shall be regarded in all circumstances to have an effective capacity equal to the product of its swept volume and a factor of 1.70 (Note: 3.56 litres turbo petrol = 6 litres +1%).
  • CLASS 4 vehicles with one or two crew members, complying with the Wild 2WD technical regulations and having a NA engine capacity not exceeding 7000cc +1%. Each petrol engine equipped with forced induction shall be regarded in all circumstances to have an effective capacity equal to the product of its swept volume and a factor of 1.70 (Note: 3.56 litres turbo petrol = 6 litres +1%).
  • CLASS 5 vehicles with two crew members, complying with the Power 2WD technical regulations and having a NA engine capacity not exceeding
    7000cc +1%. Each petrol engine equipped with forced induction shall be regarded in all circumstances to have an effective capacity equal to the
    product of its swept volume and a factor of 1.70 (Note: 3.56 litres turbo petrol = 6 litres +1%).
  • CLASS 8 vehicles with one or two crew members, complying with the Super 4WD technical regulations and having a NA engine capacity not exceeding 7000cc +1%. Each petrol engine equipped with forced induction shall be regarded in all circumstances to have an effective capacity equal to the product of its swept volume and a factor of 1.70 (Note: 3.56 litres turbo petrol = 6 litres +1%).

If you are an affiliated AORRA club, actively hosting AORRA sanctioned events, you are eligible to vote.

Each club mut hold a meeting with its members to discuss the proposed rule changes before submitting a vote. After consultation, each club is entitled to one collective vote, representing the consensus of its members.
