Patterson’s Nandaly Breakthrough

Patterson’s Nandaly Breakthrough

For young Victorians Jourdain Patterson and Perry Compton #44, it would be hard to imagine a more historic location to record their maiden outright victory than the 2024 Camel’s Capers Haeusler’s Nandaly 300, proudly hosted by the Sea Lake Off Road Club.

Starting from fourth on Sunday, the V8 Razorback chargers quickly found themselves in uncharted territory after mechanical dramas to front runners Brett Plant #929, Robert Plant #128 and Jason Richards #119.

From the front, Patterson and Compton were never headed over the final stages, holding strong to record a four minute victory; an impressive triumph in just their fourth outing in the new car.

Local campaigner Stuart Crowe #189 was brilliant once again, finishing the weekend in second outright and with Class 1 honours; 1.08mins ahead of Class 10 champion Dean Meginley who rounded out the Nandaly podium, continuing his affinity for Sea Lake events.

Class 1 runner up Evan Lampard #184 continued his strong run of form to cross five minutes adrift of Meginley in fourth; whilst Class 4 victor Peter Sibson #412 rounded out the Nandaly 300 top five, a further four minutes adrift.

Mal Lynch #676 drove his Can Am X3 to Class 6 supremacy, holding off Aidan Campagnolo #666 who experienced a final lap issue, and Beau Ely #669 in second and third respectively.

Darren Gill #760 held off Connor Cooper #729 for the Class 7 silverware, whilst Darren Frankling #1110 who only completed Saturday’s two laps claimed Class 11 spoils.

In other results, newcomer Adrian Coatsworth #265 outlasted Jake Stevenson #246 and Andrew Forssman #279 for the Class 2 title, with Kevin Marsden #11 and Scott Coulston #71 rounding out the Ultimate Class podium.

Travis Conrad #1006 finished second in his debut drive of the teams new Class 10 machine, six mins ahead of Mark Hubbard #1098 in third,  local member Joseph Marshall #134 secured third in Class 1, whilst Brett Jorgenson #425 and Craig Button #469 collected Class 4 silverware.

20 of the 45 starters completed the full 300kms at Pier Millan, with notables not to finish including, overnight leader Brett Plant #929, Robert Plant #128, Scott Coulston #71, Jason Richards #119, Glenn Pike #75, Toby Reimann #80, Darren Frankling #1110, Jake Stevenson #246, Brendan Payne #99, Glenn Collis #147 and Stephen Burrows #181.

The Camel’s Capers Haeusler’s Nandaly 300 would not have been possible without the support of major event sponsors Haeusler’s (naming rights), Nandaly Grain Co-Op, Crop Smart, North West Ag, and Swan Hill Offroad, along with all the other individuals who assisted in so many ways.

The 2024 Victorian Off Road Club Series will now turn its attention to Round 5, the Rainbow Rises 240; held over the 23rd-25th of August.
