“The track is looking in real good condition with some exciting new changes to the stadium and spectator areas are sure to be a big hit with all attendees. The Gap 440’s last event occurred in 2024 with Clayton Chapman taking victory. Since then, the town has really rallied behind the 2026 event with a list of new sponsors coming on board; everyone in Hillston is excited to have it back in 2026 and beyond.”

“The date change from previous years will favour the racing proven already by the amount of entries. The entries received over 50% capacity in only 4 days which has created a large field of eager competitors to kick off the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship. The event is hoping to draw competitors and spectators with more to offer compared to previous years such as the Freestyle Motocross on Friday night to the Top 10 Shootout after the prologue on Saturday Morning to everything in Between.”

“The Gundy 250 was born with the idea of having a short course race at the famous Gundy track. Back in 2023 with its inception we had an outstanding 90 entries but unfortunately due to heavy rain the event was not destined to happened! The 2024 and 2025 Gundy 250 events were again plagued with bad weather. We went back to the drawing board and with great support from the QLD championship we changed the date to earlier in the year.”

“27th Feb – 1st March will see the new date for the much anticipated GUNDY250. With weather conditions looking fantastic, the scene is set for some real battles of Off Road Racing. The 21km course and 2 cars off the line at a time is going to put competitors to the test! The track incorporates parts of the famous GUNDY500 prologue track and also some of the original track from many years ago. It caters to all racers; there are tight sections, open straights and plenty of the famous Melon Holes that will test man and machine. With a fresh format, some upgraded facilities and camping at the track ( yes camping at the track ) we can’t wait to get the show on the road!”
“There will be a canteen and bar running for the entire weekend including scrutineering on the Friday night. Racing kicks off at 8:30am Saturday and 8:00am on Sunday with trophy presentation soon after racing is finished. Spectators are welcome and with some new changes to the spectator area and track; there is plenty of racing to see.”

“It all doesn’t happen without support, and we must thank our great mates at ARB as the main sponsor and to all the local members QLD Off Road Racing community for putting in the hard yards. Many tireless hours of work and kind donations go into making an event run so thank you for all your support.”
“So get your race car out of shed or get off the lounge and make your way to HQ at “TORRIDON” Pollocks Road Goondiwindi and catch some of the countries best Off Road Racing.”

Excitement is already high ahead of the 2026 Form A Sign King of the Dunes, with entries already full in record time!
“We’re not surprised entries filled up as fast as they did given last year’s feedback and also how popular the Southern States series is,” event organiser Kate Nicol said. “The course is expected to feel familiar for returning drivers, with organiser Damien Nicol planning to keep the layout much the same as last year so long as the wind hasn’t shifted the dunes too much.”

“The 2026 lineup features past winners Matt Hanson, Dean Wiliams and Daryl Nissen, along with a great mix of experienced competitors and fresh faces, and an even spread of entries across multiple classes which is fantastic to see.”
“With a stacked entry list and strong backing from our sponsors, this year’s dunes race is shaping up to be another standout round of the Southern States Series. We can’t wait to see everyone back on the sand—let’s just hope race day is about ten degrees cooler than last year!”

“A huge part of making the event possible is the support of our sponsors, and the Portland Dune Buggy Club would like to acknowledge new naming rights sponsor Form A Sign, who supply and design everything from U-Deck boat flooring through to promotional signage and custom stickers. The PDBC is also excited to welcome Outlaw Blasting & Coating on board this year. They specialise in powder coating and blasting services, including mobile blasting. Business owners Cam and Lisa Percy will be competing in their Outlaw buggy, with Lisa back behind the wheel for her second dunes race. A big thank-you also goes to Tutt Bryant for their ongoing backing of the event, supplying quality hire equipment year after year, and to Thomo’s Race Graphix for producing the mint-looking trophies that competitors will be battling it out for.”
Although entries are full, there is a waiting list that competitors can enter below.
