Westlime Motorsport’s Nick Commins and Ryan Galvin #1179 have surged into the outright lead at the 2024 Bowen Rail Company Don River Dash after a barnstorming Saturday.
Commins in his Class 11 Brenthel completed the three 50km laps with a 23 second advantage, holding off two time champion Talbot Cox and navigator Craig King #16 in their Ultimate Racer.
In one of the drives of the day, young gun Kye Camilleri and Luke Hendry #34 piloted their Rednut Racing Jimco into third; whilst defending champion Roydn Bailey #52 and North Queenslander Kent Battle #31 finished in fourth and fifth respectively.
In the class battles, Tony Fehlhaber #138 again leads Class 1, Ivan Robertson #471 likewise in Class 4, whilst Dan Dunn #614, Daniel MacDonald #1052, Jack Henderson #807, Hank Parker #798, Benjamin Nixon #6198s, and Sean Streten #226 all lead their respective classes.
60 crews completed today’s three laps of the iconic Don River, with notables not to finish including Cooper Western #1161, Trent Callander #127, Sally Jack #1118, Ian Baker #146, Damien Saunders #444, Savanna Madderom #615, Les Long #6626, and Jack Mildwaters #1149.
Action kicks off at 8.30am tomorrow morning for the final three laps to decide a new Bowen Rail Company Don River Dash champion.
