Fehlhaber and Nicoll Set for QLD Title Showdown at Mount Larcom

One of the most anticipated battles on the Queensland Off Road Racing calendar awaits this weekend, with the 2025 Farm and Garden Products Mount Larcom Short Course firing into action, proudly hosted by the Gympie Auto Sports Club.

A quality field of forty will take on the eighth and final round of the 2025 Mickey Thompson ARB Off Road Racing Championship, with the event headlined by defending champion Christian Trusz #816 in his Class 8 Patrol.

The fight for Queensland’s highest off-road honour looks like it will come down to two in-form drivers — Class 1 star Tony Fehlhaber #138 and Class 6 ace Aaron Nicoll #665.

Despite Nicoll missing the previous round at Bowen, and Fehlhaber locking down his third top ten result of the season, they head to Mount Larcom separated by just nineteen points, and with everything to play for.

Leading female contender and Can Am peddler Anna Phillis #624s, her husband Aaron #40 in his V8 Brenthel, and Class 1 stalwart David Loughnan #104 are all outside shots at the title with just three points separating the trio.

While Fehlhaber and Nicoll spearhead the title fight, several crews will also have their sights set on the Mount Larcom silverware.

Defending champion Christian Trusz #816 and 2023 victor Zac Marsh #6140 will be the main front runners, with Tyler Youman #427 in his boosted Trophy Truck, former Mount Larcom runner-up Richard Tassin #691 and Polaris charger Luke Brandon #613 expected to be in the mix for outright honours.

Class 10 championship leader Brett Baker #1026, the inform Jason Keane #1013, Class 4 pilot Steven Kildey #412, Jason Sait #674, and 2022 Queensland champion Brice Derrick #696 add further depth to the stacked field.

All classes are set to be hotly contested at Mount Larcom once again, with Kel Kruger #44, Tom Darlington #63, Darren Angel #160, and Darren Orr #1015 rounding out their respective fields.

Stephen Blake #6639 and Ross Newman #6681 will lock horns for Class 6 supremacy,  likewise young gun Lincoln Wilcox #717 and Lincoln Staude #726 in Class 7, Colin Gaven #295 is the sole Class 2 competitor, with Matt Dicks #828, and Jayne Challacombe #838 rounding out Class 8.

Runaway Class 6s championship leader Anna Phillis #624s, former Queensland Ladies champion Leila Chapman #616s, Lara Brandon #690s, Darren Brandon #689s and Lachie Hill #676s are all poised to challenge for the final time in 2025.

Ones to keep a watch on in Class 6 include Queensland newcomers Ross Jewell #648, Donald Davis #660, Vaughan McCamley #686, and David Baxter #6168, along with David Nicholson #6122, and Nigel Pearce #6123.

In addition, two of Queensland’s Future Champion stars Jack Musico #6688, and Cameron Krog #6623 will face off for the third time this season, with Musico looking to defend his title from twelve months ago.

The 2025 Farm and Garden Products Mount Larcom Short Course is made possible through the generous support of Farm and Garden Products as naming rights sponsor, and their valued event partners Upton Engineering, Multitrade Building Hire, and McCosker Contracting.
