Bowen based Brett Glazebrook #668 has locked in a hectic race schedule for the 2024 season which kickstarts at next month’s GEN-Y HITCH MAC1000 at St George, an event he is eager to contend.
Set to make their maiden appearance in the Balonne Shire, Glazebrook Racing have a four man crew awaiting the challenge of Australia’s Longest Offroad Race.
Glazebrook and his regular navigator Ryan Southern will contest the first and last three laps of the circuit, with best mate Billy Johnson who is set to jump behind the wheel for the first time and Glazebrook’s son Fletcher taking the reins for the middle stanza.
“Being our first race of the year I’m hoping to finish and get some quality seat time for the Queensland ARB championship. But really, if we are at the end, and we keep it together fingers crossed we are somewhere near the front,” said an excited Glazebrook.
After a full shakedown of the teams Can Am X3 over the summer break, Glazebrook who made his offroad debut during the 2022 season is confident all demons are sorted and that he can launch a full blown attack on the Queensland scene this year.
Despite a career high fourth outright finish at the Federal SC back in April, last season was frustrating for Glazebrook and crew with mechanical dramas at Burdekin, Goondiwindi and Don River halting their run.
“We are scheduled to compete at all 9 rounds of the QLD Mickey Thompson ARB Championship this year if all goes to plan. A big goal for the team is to win our class at Don River, I would really like that title being our home track. After two disappointing campaigns, maybe it’ll be third time lucky,” said Glazebrook.
Glazebrook’s endeavours would not be possible without the support of his amazing wife Amanda; children Dustin, Fletcher and Bridie, his major sponsor North Australian Hotel in Bowen and his mates Ryan Southern and Billy Johnson who have assisted the proud Burdekin Offroaders INC committee member immensely in pursuing his racing dreams.
The 2024 GEN-Y HITCH MAC1000 takes place on the outskirts of St George over the 23rd and 24th of February.
