Fresh off another record breaking season, the 2024 ARB Mickey Thompson Queensland Off-Road Racing Championship kicks into gear this weekend with the running of the Philp Diverse Services Dalby Short Course hosted by the Gympie Auto Sports Club, and proudly supported by Speciality Services QLD.
In another huge vote of confidence for the popular 9 round AORRA QLD Championship, a strong field of 51 entries are prepped for battle; including 8 of last years top ten outright championship finishers who are nominated to meet the green light at Dalby.
Without 2023 Queensland Champion Zac Marsh #614, and last year’s Dalby SC victor Richard Tassin #691 in the field, this weekend’s line up will be spearheaded by 2022 Dalby winner Stuart Chapman #17 in his single seat Chenowth.
Amongst the stacked field there will be a number of crews jostling for outright positions, including 2022 Moranbah champ Kye Camilleri #634, David Loughnan #104 in his Class 1 Honey Badger, last year’s state runner up Luke Brandon #690, Steven Orr #1051, Polaris campaigner Tony Patterson #6175 and Class 8 front runner Christian Trusz #816.
Close battles across all classes are again expected at Dalby; with Tom Darlington #63, Brett Baker #124, property owner Pat Philp #182, last years QLD Class 2 champ Colin Gaven #295, Tyler Youman #427, Anna Phillis #624, young gun Jackson Nott #6178 who will make his highly anticipated driving debut, Darren Brandon #689s, Jack Huxstep #711, Rob Chapman #871, plus future champions Toby Musico #6688, Lincoln Wilcox #717, Hollie Gardiner #6689, and Cameron Krog #6623 who are amongst the notable crews set for battle.
The AORRA QLD Off Road Championship would like to thank their major naming right sponsors ARB & Mickey Thompson Tyres for continuing their strong partnership into 2024, whilst expressing their gratitude towards the other championship sponsors, including: Premium Soil Conditioners & Fertilisers, Lucas Papaw Remedies, Comiskey Mining Services, Link Engine Management, Farm & Garden Polaris, North Lakes Best Western Hotel & JSW Powersports.
With another jam packed line up ready to hit ‘Weranga’, it is anyone’s guess as to who will become the next PDS Dalby 100 champion. With full camping and catering available, and racing scheduled to commence from 8am both Saturday and Sunday morning, it is set to be another great weekends racing in Queensland.
