2020 – The Year Ahead

The 2019 season was a huge success with 26 permits issued for events with 45 days of competition completed. We now have 650 license holders and 250 vehicle passports. AORRA would like to thank all clubs and competitors involved for the continued support of our wonderful sport.

Competitor turnout at Club, State and National events was very high and making these events a success for the organizing clubs. We would also like to congratulate all Club, State and National Champions who put in the time, money and effort to compete in these events.

2020 is shaping up to be even bigger: 4 National rounds confirmed, a strong South Australian and Queensland Championship with work continuing with other State bodies for future Championships. Plus, new clubs moving to AORRA for affiliation growing the AORRA community.

After the cancellation of 2 National rounds last year, Mildura and Sea Lake, we are happy to confirm that the Mallee Rally (Sea Lake) event is a confirmed starter. Much work has been done behind the scenes by the Sea Lake club and local government to secure the use of land to hold this event once more. Mildura unfortunately is still suffering a terrible drought and Keera Station is not up to holding an event, we are all praying for rain to not only see the return of racing at this majestic property but for the owners to once again feed their stock and have good returns from crops.

This year we will also be implementing the use of RallySafe at National events. We feel that competitor safety is of utmost importance and it is our duty to ensure that everyone competing has the best safety options available. We are working hard on gaining sponsorship and with monetary input from AORRA, we envisage the extra cost of entry to these events will be kept to a minimum. In the end what price do you put on the safety of friends and family who are out there competing.

Please also remember that AORRA is there for the competitors and clubs voices to be heard in a democratic way, if you wish to see a rule change we have an open process for this to happen, also all of our board members are contactable at any time with contact details published on our website.

We would like to thank everyone involved to help grow the sport of Off Road Racing and wish all clubs, officials and competitors a safe and successful 2020.

Regards,

AORRA Board
