2nd November 2019
2019 has been a year of growth for AORRA, there have been both trials and tribulations over the last 12 months. We have grown our member base of both affiliated clubs, promoters and also license and passbook holders to record numbers. This has shown that the sport of Off Road Racing is strong and getting stronger even in the trying weather conditions that Australia is surround by at this point in time.
There has been tremendous success with the inception of National and State Championships around the country under the AORRA banner and competitors have shown strong support in record entry numbers. We have conducted several rule change votes and also tested the viability and visibility of rear facing blue led lights for improved safety with the result being that these will be a compulsory safety item for 2020 and beyond. We have also recently conducted a survey of competitors on the use of the Rally Safe system and plans are well underway for a trial at major events in 2020 that will be subsidised by AORRA to ensure minimum cost impact on both clubs and competitors.
I would like to thank the tireless efforts of the board members that have given their time to AORRA over the last 12 months with great success. I would like to thank outgoing members Shane Heemskerk, Steve Graham, Jamie Knight, David Schultz and Bob Strawbridge as their input and efforts have been invaluable. New members coming onto the board for 2020 are Christopher Boon, Carl Haby and Bernie Clohsey and I would like to welcome them. Their history in the sport will no doubt make a large contribution to AORRA and our great sport.
Our website has been finished with all information available to clubs and competitors at the touch of a button along with event dates and feature stories. Facebook has been a huge success with an incredible increase in likes and reach. It provides information on and about upcoming events along with results and a platform for all Off Road Racers to interact in a community environment.
I am looking forward to new challenges that 2020 will bring and to have such a diverse range of board members will ensure the continued growth of AORRA and Off Road Racing in Australia for many years to come.
Regards
Ivan Robertson
Chairman AORRA
